Default Hello !

Hi everybody !
As I am new on the "Zermatt-Talk" I first would like to say HELLO to everybody on this website. I am a citizen from Belgium, motherlanguage Flemish (kind of mixture of South-African and Dutch), and can also express me in French, German and English! Since years I am a real "Zermatt-addict" and enjoy the village especially for Alpine-skiing during minimum 2 weeks a year!

Well hey, if you are a Zermatt addict you will enjoy it here, it is starting to pick up steam again now which is good....we need to keep the forum active, so having some true Zermatt Addicts would help it!
When where you last there?

Hi Gebstar !
Many thanks for your reply !
The last time I went to Zermatt was just for one week in April 2008. Therefore I was also there during the last week of January. If possible I always try to get overthere for at least 2 weeks, which means one week at the end of the first month of the year and a second week when you can smell spring in the mountains of Zermatt. For the moment I already made my reservation for my two weeks in Zermatt and again this will take place at the end of January and a second time starting from the 11th of April 2009.
I do really enjoy the atmosphere so much ("ambiance" like we say in French) that I hardly can't wait to get there! I'm looking forward to it... but in the mean time the official webcams of Zermatt bring me a lot of satisfaction !!! Zermatt is great !!!

Well for us Brits its getting hard to get over there, mainly with the recession and the shocking exchange rate at the moment. People are finding it hard to travel anywhere let alone the furiously expensive Zermatt. I was there earlier on this year over Easter and had some fantastic skiing. I honestly can't think of anything better than walking off the train when you get into Zermatt and smelling that crisp mountain air!
I dont think we will make it out over 2009, but i am hoping to get over there in 2010 to try and so a ski season....perhaps work in a bar or something...so letting you know in advance i may be able to get some free drinks for the members of Zermatt-Talk!

Even for us on the continent the Swiss Franc is more expensive than last year. But for your currency it's really bad and I think it won't change right now! I think it could be better if your country would also participate with the Euro! At the beginning of the Euro currency we were not very enthousiast but now we are happy we are in! I am sure it would be less painfull to get overhere spending your holidays on the Continent that way. Perhaps someday the GBP will change into Euro! And if it gives you the possibility to travel more, why not?!

Thats true but the brits are very stubborn and wouldn't do it, there would be a huge amount of people disagreeing with you. I can see completely how you have a valid and very reasonable point that would work in the country....but what can i say....we like our currency too much!
