Default The Pipe

Well anyone who knows Zermatt, knows about Nikk's place: The Pipe. i went down last night for a couple of beers and some finger-licking food and the drinks were cool and the eats were hot. Spicy hot If you're into funky african-style dishes with just a hint of hot, spicy herbs and sauces that'll set your tast-buds on fire, check out the pipe. The service is excellent (Diana does a stellar job) and the rest of the Pipe crew is a friendly bunch of ski-bums, sky-divers and Nikk himself who kind of just holds court and entertains the guests...

Look for a full review soon

meanwhile, go here to have a look at what you can expect:

Where is that located in Zermatt? We usually eat at the hotel - food is excellent and less costly than eating out. I think we've only eaten out about 5 times in 5 years. The Thai place near where Murphy's Irish Pub used to be was Very good. Ahhh Murphy's. I did love that place.

Hi there bdrewen. The Pipe's in the huge hotel complex that faces the grave-yard. it's just down the street from the old murphy's pub (which was a lot of fun, but has since closed )

The thai restaurant is in the hotel albana-real just up the street from (old) murphy's pub. been there many times too - excellent food, but bring a fat wallet There's also a japanese restaurant in the hotel which is an exquisite experience - entertaining chefs and excellent eats - also pricey, but worth it if you can afford it

Yeah... It seems like since Murphy's closed we find ourselves in the Pollux Tbar most nights (we like the Murphy Brother's Band).

Generally it's ski all day, hit the Olympia pub or Hennu Stall on the way back, hit the Papperla pub, eat dinner then find someplace to hang (maybe a few beers over a game of pool at the country bar) until the Tbar gets going around 11:00. Man I'm going to miss Zermatt this year. Breckenridge, CO doesn't even seem like an alternative.

yeah... those were the good old days

by far the best place to be for apres-ski these days is the hennu-stall coming down from furi... good times, good drinks and and an excellent in-house band: sceneit -
enjoy!

and why would you go to colorado when you've already done zermatt? hell, if i was going to n. america to ski, i'd hit tremblant or whistler , but then again, i'm a crazy canuck
